I recommend stopping at one of the local restaurants and tasting the excellently prepared trout or char, which are among the most common catches in the lake. In addition to natural beauty and sports activities, Attersee also offers rich cultural experiences.

Lake Mondsee
Lake Mondsee, located in the heart of the Salzkammergut, is a real treasure for trips in the vicinity of Attersee. If no other, then I recommend visiting Mondsee during your vacation here. It is surrounded by stunning mountain panoramas and lush greenery, creating an idyllic atmosphere for perfect relaxation. If you are coming to Austria on vacation with a paddleboard, be sure to bring it on this trip as well.
However, Mondsee is not only a natural treasure. Lovers of history and culture will also find something to their liking here. In that case, don’t miss a visit to Mondsee am Mondsee. Worth mentioning is, for example, the Basilica of St. Michael.

Lake Traunsee
If you choose to visit Lake Traunsee among the trips near Attersee, you can drive to it in about half an hour. Lakes Langbathseen / What to do at Attersee
Just a few kilometers further up the hill from Lake Traunsee, specifically from the town of Ebensee, you will find two fairytale mountain lakes called Langbathseen. I personally recommend planning a full-day trip here in good weather (not only) from Attersee.

Lake Wolfgangsee / What to do at Attersee
I have written it many times, but Lake Wolfgangsee was sometime in 2008 the first Austrian lake where we spent our summer vacation and I probably don’t need to talk more about the fact that it was love at first sight and that this fairytale place started our curiosity to discover other beautiful lakes in Austria.
At Wolfgangsee, I recommend visiting the traditional town of St. Wolfgang, which has a spa atmosphere. Take the path around the lake to Strobl and of course you must not miss a ride on a steamboat and a cogwheel ride to Schafberg.

Hallstatt / What to do at Attersee
I certainly don’t need to introduce Hallstatt any further. One of the most beautiful and most visited places in Austria is a year-round attraction not only for day trips. I recommend planning 1-2 nights here with accommodation directly in the historical part of the city. The city is most beautiful for me during the week outside the main holiday season.
In addition to the classic walk through the city to the popular Hallstatt viewpoint, take the cable car / walk to the Skywalk viewpoint above the city and visit the local museums and historical mines.

Salzburg
Salzburg is rightly considered a jewel of Austria. It is a city that literally breathes history and culture. This picturesque place, known as the birthplace of the composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, offers vacationers of all ages unforgettable experiences.
You can look forward to baroque architecture, breathtaking views and gastronomic experiences from local restaurants and cafes. Take a walk through the streets of the historical city, which you will also find listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Other places you must not miss in Salzburg: Hohensalzburg Fortress, Mozart’s birthplace, Mirabell Palace and Gardens and Hellbrunn Palace.
Bad Ischl / What to do at Attersee
Bad Ischl is a nearby spa town that is ideal for what to do at Attersee. You can go here in any weather and this city will always enchant you. Take a walk through the historical part of the city, be sure to visit the Imperial Villa and go to a restaurant or local cafes, and not only on a rainy day, you can also visit the local wellness center.
