Krvavec Ski Resort: The best ski area in Slovenia
Krvavec Ski Resort is located on the edge of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps and is often referred to as the best ski area in Slovenia. Having had the opportunity to visit it several times, I can agree that Krvavec really deserves this attribute.
Snow groomers prepare the slopes every day before dawn so that fresh corduroy is ready for the first vacationers. Krvavec belongs to the municipality of Cerklje na Gorenjskem and is less than 25 kilometers from Ljubljana. Although Krvavec is close to the capital, it offers a peaceful escape to nature in winter and summer.

Krvavec is a mountain pasture with a wide range of winter and summer activities for active holidaymakers and lovers of fresh mountain air and the Alpine environment. In winter, the Krvavec ski resort is one of the largest and is also considered the best ski area in Slovenia.
Accommodation in a mountain resort and in thermal spas
If you are planning to visit this ski area in Slovenia, you will find plenty of accommodation options in the region. Hotels and guesthouses are also available directly in the resort. I personally recommend Hotel Krvavec, but you won’t go wrong staying in any of the others located here.

After a day of skiing, you can also take a trip to the city. Visit the capital Ljubljana, the regional center of Kranj, or the beautiful tourist resort of Bled, which is also located near Krvavec.
If all accommodations in the mountain resort are already occupied, or you prefer to stay in the valley below the hill, my personal tip is Terme Snovik, where you can enjoy the facilities of the popular Slovenian thermal baths after skiing.

What Krvavec Ski Resort offers in winter
The first thing I should mention is the fact that Krvavec is a relatively high mountain for Slovenian conditions. You can enjoy skiing at altitudes from the base at 1,450 meters to the summit at 1,971 meters. This gives us a pleasant elevation gain of 521 meters.

Krvavec offers 30 kilometers of slopes with an excellent combination of difficulties. You will find a decent 8 km of blue, i.e. easy trails, but the real heart of the area is 15 km of red and approximately 7 km of black slopes. If you like freeride and wait for fresh snowfall, Krvavec also has excellent potential for off-piste riding. It also offers an easy and well-accessible starting point for ski mountaineering.

What is essential, however, is that the slopes are well-maintained and about 90% of them are snow-covered during the main winter season, which guarantees very reliable conditions. Thanks to 30 kilometers of groomed trails, the resort guarantees 100 ski days every season. The diverse slopes of all difficulties are suitable for recreational and sports skiers, but beginners will also find facilities here – ski schools, children’s trails, a ski school and equipment rental.

As for lifts and cable cars, you will find a combination of modern and older cable cars in the resort. There are seven chairlifts and several lifts available on the mountain. Krvavec Ski Resort has invested in faster cable cars in recent years. For example, in a new six-seater, which shortens our waiting time.

In summer, this popular ski area in Slovenia turns into a popular tourist oasis for all lovers of high-altitude tours and cyclists who want to enjoy the mountain bike park. However, families with children will also find facilities here, who often head to Summer Park, which offers several activities.
