Vogel Ski Resort: Enjoy the winter season in Bohinj, Slovenia
Vogel Ski Resort offers a well-arranged area with a view of Triglav and facilities for all levels of skiers. I first visited this ski resort in Bohinj ten years ago, and I still enjoy returning for the local fairytale atmosphere. There is a children’s park, a mini freestyle park, a snow park and an X run track.
The slopes are well-maintained, the freeride terrain is easily accessible, and the local specialty is the longest ski slope in Slovenia – the 7.5 km long Žagarjev Graben. A new gondola lift has also been built on half of the track. If you like ski resorts with a family and romantic atmosphere, you will like Vogel, just like us.
Vogel Ski Resort
Vogel Ski Centre is the only Slovenian ski resort located directly in the high mountain environment of the Triglav National Park. The ride on the cable car to a height of 1,535 meters is worth it. In good conditions, you can enjoy a view of Lake Bohinj hidden under the morning mist and the ridges of the Triglav Mountains.
On the slopes you will find carefully groomed trails for beginners and experienced skiers alike. Thanks to the natural snow and more stable mountain climate, the area has a pleasant “alpine” character and feels calmer than larger commercial centers.
My tip:
Plan your winter or summer vacation at Vogel and stay in a mountain hut directly in the ski area.

Accommodation in Bohinj
Accommodation in Bohinj is ideal for a comfortable winter holiday if your destination is the Vogel Ski Resort. For adventurers, there is also accommodation directly in the alpine village of Vogel, where there are alpine chalets available practically all year round. In winter, thanks to accommodation directly in the resort, you have direct access to the slopes, in summer you will hear the typical tinkling of cowbells. The Merjasec, Burja, Orlove Glave chalets and the Viharnik inn serve traditional Bohinj cuisine.

Personally, we have a verified and favorite Bohinj Eco Hotel. In winter, I recommend booking the Ski & Spa package. After a day spent skiing, you can also enjoy the pleasant wellness center and warm up in the sauna.

Vogel in summer
In summer, Vogel is a high-mountain pasture with rich flora and fauna. From spring to autumn, it serves as a natural starting point for hikes and shorter walks. The local flora is easily accessible even to visitors with limited mobility, and families with strollers also head to the groomed paths.
For active visitors, there is a bike park with trails of varying difficulty, including the possibility of renting modern mountain bikes. The panoramic cable car and four-seater chairlift will take you to several viewpoints, from where you can see the entire valley. Paragliding, guided tours and quality facilities in the form of restaurants, refreshments and accommodation are also available.

Parking and access to the ski area
Parking and access are well organized for the Vogel Ski Resort. You can park your car comfortably at the bottom cable car station in Bohinjska Bistrica, where there is a large free parking lot. From there, you can take a gondola to the resort’s entry area at an altitude of almost 1,540 meters.
The road from the valley is regularly maintained in winter, but due to the mountainous terrain, it is recommended to have good winter equipment for the car, including chains, and to expect possible traffic slowdowns after snowfall. The road to the parking lot is clearly marked. If you are staying in Bohinj, a ski bus usually operates there during the main winter season.
