Reiteralm in winter
Reiteralm is a popular winter resort among many skiers, located in the Schladming – Dachstein region, in Austrian Styria. It’s no wonder that Reiteralm is a favorite destination for winter sports enthusiasts looking for quality slopes and modern facilities. It offers a diverse range of trails for skiers of all levels, from beginners to experienced professionals.
The resort has a total of 32 kilometers of slopes, of which 11 km are marked blue for beginners, 18 km red for intermediate, and 3 km black for experts. Transportation is provided by 12 lifts and cable cars, including the modern 8-seater gondola “Silver Jet”, which is the most efficient in the Schladming area.
In addition to traditional attractions such as a children’s world with a magic carpet and practice lifts, there are plans to expand the snow park and introduce new gastronomic experiences on the slopes. So there’s definitely something to look forward to and reasons to come back year after year. Parking for visitors is provided in spacious parking areas at the lower lift stations, making access to the slopes easy.
Reiteralm in summer
In the summer season, the Reiteralm resort transforms into a breathtaking tourist paradise. And when I say that the local trails offer something for everyone, it’s really true. You can come here with a stroller and enjoy a small circuit around the reservoir. Do you prefer mountain bikes? Then there are annually maintained trails for downhill riding. And finally, if you’re a fan of moderately challenging mountain hiking, you’ll be absolutely thrilled with the local trails leading around several lakes.
The most popular summer trip at Reiteralm is considered to be the hike to Lake Spiegelsee, which I mentioned in the introduction. The classic route is not particularly challenging and can be managed with average fitness. However, you can plan a more demanding route if you choose the path over the ridges and local peaks. Another option is a route leading around several lakes, through an adventure trail, taking a detour to the aforementioned Spiegelsee. Study the map for the route you intend to take before hiking!
Warning: mountain goats are present in the summer season. Don’t unpack snacks in their presence and don’t try to pet them. Dogs were not banned from the resort so far. However, they need to be on a leash. This may change for the new season – check for updates.
