Christmas Markets Český Krumlov 2025: What to See, Where to Stay, Where to Eat
The Christmas markets Český Krumlov are among the most impressive Advent events in the Czech Republic. The town offers an intimate atmosphere that stands out thanks to its historic center, fairytale decorations, and interesting program. Travelers will find traditional crafts, regional gastronomy, and cultural performances that highlight the character of the place. Since Krumlov is only half an hour away by car, I have also included Advent in Český Krumlov in my tips for Christmas markets.

Christmas Markets Český Krumlov – What to See Here?
Advent Markets on Svornosti Square
- The center of the action is on Svornosti Square, surrounded by Renaissance houses. Here you will find traditional wooden stalls with crafts, punch, and local specialties such as langos, sausages, lokše, or trdelník. Ceramics, candles, wooden ornaments, and products from regional farmers, especially those made of wood, are sold here.
Live Nativity Scene and Wooden Nativity Scene on the Square
- A popular event of the Krumlov Advent is the annual live nativity scene on the square. Performances by local amateurs and children are accompanied by carols and a light show. It traditionally takes place on Advent weekends before Christmas.
- You will also find an original wooden nativity scene on Svornosti Square throughout the Advent markets.
Advent Concerts – Christmas Markets Český Krumlov
- St. Vitus Church, the Český Krumlov Monasteries, and the Regional Gallery organize chamber concerts, various performances, and organ recitals. The atmosphere is pleasantly intimate, often by candlelight, which makes Advent in Český Krumlov particularly popular.
Advent Post Office and Program for Children – Advent in Český Krumlov
- A Christmas post office is set up on the square where children can write a letter to Jesus. In addition, various theaters and workshops with ornament making are held every weekend.
- A historical carousel (for a fee) also awaits children on the square.
Walk through the Castle and Winter Views – Christmas Markets Český Krumlov
- Even in winter, part of the Český Krumlov Castle and the castle tower are accessible, offering views of the entire city in its winter coat. There are fewer visitors in December, so you can really enjoy the view and walks through the historic center.
Christmas Street – Christmas Markets Český Krumlov
- As I mentioned at the beginning, this year’s novelty is Christmas Street, which you will find in the street leading directly from the square. You can look forward to an originally decorated place that will delight both small and large vacationers. You will find several INSTA spots where you can take pictures. Otherwise, you can also buy something good to eat here, such as baked sausages or traditional lokše.
- We personally visited Advent in Český Krumlov and the street on a working day, in the early evening hours, when there was probably the highest concentration of tourists from all over the city. If you want to enjoy the street ideally just for yourself, I recommend arriving in the late evening hours.
